This track is about South Australian "icons" that can be seen on National Highway 1 between Adelaide and Napperby SA. These Icons were made out of steel by a local Farmer....And were a protest against the upcoming proposed Waste the time when John Olsen was the premier of S.Australia......It is also a song about the strange signs you may see from time to time along this route...

Saw the Mighty Mouse make a stand with his metal hand holding his bag.
The cows aren't winning and the mouse aint' grinning neath' his wiry moustache
There's a sign in the middle,
Don't drive like a Rooster.....Its a long way still...
Spaceships coming, flew right over my bonnet, man I wanna get on it
The man in the bubble, could swear he's my double, but he wont let me on it......There's a sign in the middle...Don't drive like a Rooster...Its a long way still....Its a long way still.
The outlaw gang, they been waiting to hang, but their leader is here
The riding Ned Kelly got the fire in his belly, He aint robbing no Deli
He's riding from the Blow Fly whose standing up just over the road
Any minute now His Revolvers are gonna explode....Its a long way still...Don't drive like a Rooster ...Don't drive like a Rooster ...Its a long way still
The Cockroach moved over the road, he thought,The Tin Mans a Joke..
The Farmer cant plow up his land, if we don't lend a hand...Don't drive like a Rooster ...Don't drive like a Rooster...Its a long way still..
The observation towers been searching for hours....
The years have gone bust, as their binoculars rust, since Mr Olsen lost power....Maybe this year could be the year that their all gonna get told
Its a long way still...Its a long way still..........

Black Diamond Roots Band Adelaide, Australia

These musicians all have produced a product permeated with the ghosts and styling of the past; powered by a fiercely original thread, and presented with pure intent.
An album of musings from a colourful life. This is dirt music, from the cracks in iron and steel.
This is passion, angst, melancholy, joy. a sense of place, a knowing of home.
The black diamonds are those you will find in the dust.
